What to do in Woodford State Park

Woodford State Park is a beautiful park resting at 2,400 feet elevation offering a mixed forest type with cool summer breezes. The terrain is characterized by marshes and small ponds, a result of past glacial activity. Nearby Red Mill Pond and the Adams Reservoir offer immediate access to excellent fishing. The park also offers hiking, camping, picnicking, a playground and scheduled nature talks during the summer and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling during the winter.

Woodford State Park comprises 398 acres located on a mountain plateau (2,400 feet, the highest of all Vermont's state parks) and surrounds Adams Reservoir. The high elevation of spruce, fir and birch vegetation provides an ideal setting for the park. Several lakes and ponds, as well as the vast Green Mountain National Forest, surround the area.

Winter daytime temperatures average above 18 degrees Fahrenheit (above -8 Celsius). Summer daytime temperatures average above 70 degrees Fahrenheit (above 21 Celsius). Much of the state's precipitation is the result of snow, particularly throughout the mountains. The Places in History Travel Region has an average precipitation of more than 44 inches (more than 112 centimeters). However, along the eastern boundary of this region, precipitation drops between 36 and 40 inches (91 to 102 centimeters).
