Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway

The highlights of the 111-km (69-mile) byway include the spectacular Black Hills and Mount Rushmore. The rugged terrain, massive granite outcroppings, and diversity of the landscape are traversed by and through pigtail bridges and narrow tunnels. Wildlife abounds in the mountains that are intermingled with pine, spruce, birch, and aspen trees.

Spearfish Canyon Highway

The Spearfish Canyon Highway passes through 20 miles of narrow canyon on the Black Hills National Forest and features views of several mountain peaks with slopes forested with pine, spruce, aspen, and birch; Bridal Veil Falls; and remnants of old mines and mining communities.
