Top Ten East Africa Classic Adventures
Once rightly described as the most spectacular thing to happen to the Nile River along its entire length, the Murchison Falls are awesome—the Nile plunges through a cleft barely 18 feet wide with a turbulent, thunderous surge. What better place to try your luck at fishing for giant Nile perch? Fishing permits and boats are available from the headquarters of the Murchison Falls National Park in northwestern Uganda. There's usually abundant wildlife along the banks of the river leading to the falls, including elephant and hippo. Although quite remote, the park is well set up for visitors and is easily visited by vehicle from Kampala.
