What to do in Virgin Gorda

With less than 4,000 inhabitants and only a few hundred hotel rooms, Virgin Gorda shelters a considerably more low-key, high-end lifestyle than its more populous neighbor, Tortola. There are posh resorts, but tranquility rules on this gentle island, a gem that has mercifully sidestepped mass-market tourism. Virgin Gorda's picayune, rutted airport is available for short charter hops, but most visitors arrive by sea, either on the commercial ferries that run throughout the day from Tortola and St. Thomas (in the U.S. Virgin Islands) or via the shuttles operated by several resorts.
