Hottest Haunted Cities for Halloween
Halloween is usually a time to dress up and trick-or-treat around the neighborhood, but it can be a fun holiday to travel as well. At Away.com we've selected three destinations across America that know how to celebrate Halloween.
Savannah, Georgia, is said to be one of the most haunted cities in America. The site of Civil War battles and long ago pirates, Savannah is jokingly said to have more residents than it can literally count. If you love ghost hunting, take a ghost tour through the historic squares. Many of the old inns and restaurants in the town are said to be haunted. And if you so dare, venture into the centuries-old cemeteries with many stories of their own.
The annual Key West Fantasy Fest in Florida is one word: risqué. During the week-and-a-half before Halloween, clothing is sparse and Captain Morgan is about as abundant as water. Parades, costume contests, and parties are all on the itinerary for the festival. So either embrace Jimmy Buffet's favorite place or avoid it, but if you attend, it will certainly be a Halloween for the record books.
For a more G-rated celebration, head to Pennsylvania's Hersheypark, where the "haunting grounds" are appropriate for most kids. The fall temperatures and shorter lines during the Halloween event make for a great family experience. Kids can even dress up and trick-or-treat throughout the property.
So don your costume, grab your candy bucket, and have a safe time trick-or-treating this Halloween.
