Great College Football Town Getaways
Many Fall Saturday mornings are spent in college football stadium parking lots across America. At Away.com we've selected three great college towns where you can catch a game and then explore beyond the stadium.
Oxford, Mississippi, home of the University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss, tops our list. Named "The Holy Grail of Tailgating Sites" by Sporting News, the ten-acre grassy plot called "The Grove" is a sea of red and blue on game day. Also take time to visit "The Square" in the heart of downtown, which is known for its local restaurants and boutiques.
Los Angeles might be a land of movie stars, but it's also the location of the University of Southern California. The USC Trojans are known as a football powerhouse, and there is no doubt of that claim if you drop by on game day. After a visit to the coliseum, be sure to take in the nearby beaches, shopping, and glamour that make LA famous.
Head north to the Beaver State and you'll find the famous Oregon Ducks at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Besides its football program, Eugene is also known for its natural beauty and ample recreation opportunities. Also, a day trip to a vineyard in Willamette Valley, Oregon's wine country is easy to squeeze in during a long weekend.
So pack up the cooler and put the rubber to the road for a weekend full of football, fans, and fun.
