In a span of just 60 miles, hit three southeastern classics: the funky beach community of Tybee (for biking on beach cruisers, surfing, and eating crab at The Crab Shack), Savannah (stately homes, cobblestones, and mood-setting Spanish moss), and Hilton Head (tennis, golf, dolphin cruises). Between the three, there are food festivals, runs, heritage festivals, and concerts almost every weekend all year long. But 2013 brings something really special to the Jepson Center at Savannah's Telfair Museum: an exhibition of Italian masterworks from the Renaissance through the Baroque period, on loan from the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. The exhibit runs through March 30, and we have no doubt that equally fascinating things will follow in these three southeast gems.
