Four Corners Road Trip, Southwest U.S.
A road trip in the Southwest is likely on your to-do list of travel. Add it pronto if not. If 2013 is finally going to be the year, we suggest you skip the obvious Grand Canyon and Arches and loop to some of the National Park Service’s most interesting—and culturally rich—spots. At Chaco Canyon, in northwestern New Mexico, you can see the 63-foot-wide Great Kiva. At Mesa Verde National Park, in Colorado, take a tour to see thousand-year-old cliff dwellings up close. Utah’s Monument Valley is home to classic Western-flick scenery (picture huge buttes and vast open spaces). And Canyon de Chelly National Monument has a great collection of ancestral Puebloan petroglyphs.
