Kayak the Seti
Nepal's Top 20 Adventures
While the big waters of Nepal's rivers are best suited to raft trips, the Seti River, which flows out of Fewa Lake in central Nepal, is an ideal river for novice paddlers. A couple of companies in Pokhara, a popular tourist town on Fewa Lake, offer introductory kayaking classes that start out on the lake's quiet waters and teach you the basics before you head down the Seti for a couple days of learning what whitewater kayaking is all about. The waters of the Seti are generally pretty tame, but there are enough Class II and III rapids to give you an idea of what this sport is all about. Luckily for novice kayakers, the Seti is one of Nepal's warmest rivers, a fact appreciated by those still getting the hang of doing Eskimo rolls.
