Zealand
Make Tracks on Zealand (Wonderful Copenhagen)

Cruising doesn't get any better—Denmark is flat and green, making conditions ideal for scenic cycling. Head to the island of Zealand (Sjflland in Danish)—home to the nation's capital city of Copenhagen—a surprisingly rural and level expanse. Start in Copenhagen and follow the quiet coastal roads that run along the strait that separates Denmark from Sweden from the capital to Helsingxr. This 28-mile spin from Copenhagen to Helsingxr can be covered in a day, and includes a stop at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, just south of your final stop. Once in Helsingxr, tour timeworn dungeons and the royal quarters of Prince Hamlet's castle.

If one joyride isn't enough, try your luck on the road that connects Helsingxr with Zealand's northern beaches and several small fishing villages. Head to Gilleleje, on the northern tip of the island, for a view of the famous fishing harbor and excellent seafood, and to Hornbfk for the best beach on Zealand's north coast. You're never far from a town on Zealand, making pit stops for food and overnights at local kro, or inns, a breeze.
