Argentina's Top 20 Adventures

The city of Trelew, with its sparkling new Museo Paleontologico Egidio Feruglio, is the jumping-off point for excursions into Patagonia's distant past in the Rio Chubut valley. Near the town of Gaiman (don't miss the Welsh teahouses), the Parque Paleontologico Bryn Gwyn contains in situ fossils on a well-designed nature trail, while farther west, at Paso de Indios, dinosaur excavations are underway. There are also several petrified forests in both Chubut and Santa Cruz provinces, and more dinosaur fossils in the provinces of Rmo Negro (the museum at the oil town of Plaza Huincul) and Neuquin (the municipal museum at the capital city, also called Neuquin).
