Two-Wheel in Chicopee
Georgia's Top 10 Adventures
Discover 20 miles of some of the best-maintained singletrack in all of Georgia. With distinctively different areas full of scenery, the trails of Georgia''s Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve are the best-kept secret of local riders. A virtual showcase of the northeast Georgian hills, the area boasts pine forests, hardwood ridges, rambling creeks, clear lakes, the odd copperhead, and the relatively new Chicopee Woods Mountain Biking Trails, founded and maintained by the Southeast Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) Gainesville chapter. Muscle your mountain bike over Zigzag Trail along numerous switchbacks into the woods, then reward yourself with a ride back out along the relative calm of Walnut Creek Trail. As you''re powering through the landscape, take time to soak in the idyllic surroundings filled with wildflowers, ferns, tall fragrant pines, and natural hardwood groves. Want to up the ante? Call the Gainesville SORBA riders (770-297-8319) and hook up with a night ride—trail lights not included.
