Ban Sabai Village Spa (Chiang Mai)

Situated just three miles outside Chiang Mai's town center, Ban Sabai Village offers a wide range of traditional Thai spa treatments, from simple but energizing Thai massages to cucumber facials and flower-petal-filled soaks. Set in a lushly landscaped estate of orchids, lotus ponds, and fragrant tropical plants, if you can't relax here…well, the game's up.

Four standard rooms and five villas, each with private steam room/sauna and its own open-air bathroom and two-person Jacuzzi, are available for overnight stays; if things are fully booked or you just want to spend the day away from town relaxing in the spa, Ban Sabai's still the place to work out the kinks of any busy itinerary. Chill out by the 65-foot outdoor pool or check in for an hour-long Thai massage ($36) to relieve the aches of a long journey from Bangkok or days of pounding the temples and sights of energy-sapping Chiang Mai. Ban Sabai also operates a small day spa in downtown Chiang Mai, on Charoenprathet Road.

The staff can arrange holistic checkups or tailor-make packages for individual guests lasting from a few days to a few weeks. Call ahead to arrange pick up from town. Ban Sabai's two-night, three-day basic Ruby Package includes at least two hours of spa time per day for $320 during peak season (January to April, and mid-July through August).
