A visit to India is not complete without a bit of soul nurturing at a spiritual retreat (or ashram). Being the birthplace of Buddhism and Hinduism, India offers a veritable smorgasbord of options. Of course it depends on what flavor you fancy as to which one you prefer, but one of the most popular places is Sai Baba's Abode of Highest Peace at Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh in steamy southern India. Put aside a week or more to get the most out of an ashram sojourn.
