Summer Snow 101: Getting Schooled in the Best Summer Skiing Spots

British Columbia: Canada's Summer Skiing Escape

Canada's Whistler and Blackcomb Resorts, located side-by-side north of Vancouver, offer the most popular and extensive summertime skiing opportunities in North America.

Summer programs at Blackcomb cover virtually every type of skiing. Racing clinics, for example, are offered by Salomon, (800.265.7580; www.mprattsport.com). Snowboard clinics and freestyle instruction are also commonly available, should you want to learn tricks to wow your less-summer-savvy friends with the first snowfall in the states. Contact Blackcomb Skiing Enterprises (P.O. Box 4545, Whistler, B.C., Canada, V0N 1B4, 800.766.0449 or 604.932.3141; www.whistler-blackcomb.com).
Practically Speaking
The longest running program at Whistler-Blackcomb is the Dave Murray Summer Ski and Snowboard Camp (P.O. Box 661. Whistler, BC, VON 1B0, Canada, 800.766.0449; www.skiandsnowboard.com). This seven-day camp runs about $950 and is open to juniors only (ages 10-18).
