Even if you miss Austria in the winter, plent of skiing is possible in the summer—the snow on the Alps is always good, and your options are many. Choose from any of these five 9,000-foot destinations: Hintertux, at the end of the Ziller Valley; above Innsbruck in the Stubai Valley; above Solden in the Oetz Valley; at the end of the Pitz Valley; and under Weissee Peak in the Kauner Valley.

The easiest way to ski Austria in the summer is to visit Kaprun. Lifts run year-round beneath the 10,506-foot Kitzsteinhorn.
