What to do in Tolovana Beach State Recreation Site

After a long day of shopping in Cannon Beach's boutiques, head for the heart of the city: Tolovana Wayside. Just a few steps down from the parking lot, you're on the beach with a spectacular view of Haystack Rock.

A short walk down this lovely beach and you'll be at the rock's base. An amazing natural formation, many visitors feel the need for a closer look (but please don't climb!). Enjoy the beauty of the formation, tidepools around the base and abundance of wildlife — the area is a wildlife refuge.

Vital stats: There is no fee to use this park.

Tolovana Beach State Recreation Site offers beach access and opportunities for beachcombing, picnicking, fishing, viewing marine and terrestrial wildlife, and viewing coastal scenery.

Tolovana Beach is located on Oregon's North Coast, off U.S. Highway 101, 1 mile south of Cannon Beach.

The Oregon coast receives abundant rainfall, mostly between October and April. July and August bring the best chance for clear days. Summer temperatures are normally moderate and almost never hot. Winter temperatures are normally cool at the lower elevations and cold at the higher elevations. Although snow is possible in the lowest elevations, it is infrequent and does not stay on the ground for long.
