Extremely fun, although the rent is too damn high.

If you want a mountain retreat that isn't in Colorado or Vermont then head to the Great Smokies. You'll find more than enough cabins nestled away to rent and the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area are unique. You'll find more of a country boy feel here so don't expect the 5-star resort. This area is known for it's hot rod shows and drive through wedding chapels, but you can find decent food and lots of shopping! The Christmas lights are great and if you like amusement parks, Dollywood happens to not be too bad either. Plan on stopping by or going to the Dixie Stampede. They keep the horses from the show in stalls where you can see them and it's great for children and adults who want to pretend to be kids :) Fall is a wonderful time as well for the colors, but this area can get pretty busy, so don't let traffic get to you too much!

My parents and I will be driving down to Gatlinburg at the end of the month with a couple of days spent in Nashville. Are there any "can't miss" attractions or experiences in both locations that you can list for me? I am in the process of putting an itinerary together for us. Thank you in advance.

I am planning a trip for next year sept. for my adult family of 6. We can not decide if we should go to tennesse or virgina. Each has it's interest. We want to get a cabin but not in the montains to far away from attractios. In our travels we would like to take a day or two to go to Washington DC. realizing we will have to drive a distance. We would also like to plan a trip for white water rafting, site seeing Willamsburg, maybe get to Dollywood. These are ideas being thrown out there. I was thinking Pigion Forge. Would this be a good in between place for all or some of things I mentioned. Were would you suggest we stay.
