What to do in Taylorsville Lake State Park

Taylorsville Lake State Park is a wrangler's and angler's dream come true! The park sits on 3,050-acre Taylorsville Lake, where anglers can vie for bass, bluegill and crappie. The 1,200-acre park encompasses some of the most beautiful riding country around, not far away from Kentucky's biggest city!

The campground at Taylorsville Lake offers 42 campsites for RV's, and horse lovers can sleep under the stars with their equine pals at one of ten camp sites set up specifically for horse camping. The park also offers over 16-miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding and biking.

A day on the lake is a glorious opportunity at Taylorsville Lake! Rent a marina fishing boat and cast for bass, bluegill or crappie; schedule cruising time on one of the marina's pontoon boats, or launch your own from four launching ramps.

Recreation
The wonderful 16-mile trail system on this park is managed as multi-use trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Wear your hiking shoes, bring your bike, or bring your horse and enjoy the fresh outdoor air!

Location
From Louisville, take I-64 to the Gene Snyder Freeway south and KY 155 to Taylorsville; turn east on KY 44 and drive three miles to the park. From Bluegrass Parkway, take KY 55 exit to Taylorsville.

Climate
This state experiences a temperate climate with nearly 50 inches of rainfall annually. Thirteen inches of snow is an annual average in Kentucky. There are four distinct seasons here with summer temperatures reaching 90 degrees F frequently in July and August. Low summer temperatures dip near 70 degrees F at night. Winter high temperatures often reach 45 degrees with lows dipping below freezing. Spring and fall are particularly pleasant seasons in which to visit Kentucky. Fall months are the driest. The humidity levels in the state average near 54 degrees throughout the year. The humidity during the winter months averages somewhat higher.
