La Reserve Geneve Hotel and Spa
Located on ten acres of manicured parkland near the shores of Lake Geneva, this hotel is one of Geneva's most mythical. Majestic yet comfortable, the hotel has 17 grand suites infused with modern and relaxed feel. Mahogany floors and paneling, marble and granite baths, and plush fabrics and plump bedding invite high-style relaxation. An in-house spa tops the list of amenities.

Domaine de Chateauvieux
Settled in the midst of Geneva wine country, this quiet countryside estate takes you back in time, thanks to formal gardens, chapel, and boutique offering seasonal artisan products. The raison d'êre for being here: The chateau's crème de la crème is its famous Chateuavieux restaurant which serves stunning cuisine paired with a selection from its 25,000-bottle cellar.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel du Rhone
Considered the premier hotel in Geneva, the guest quarters and larger suites here are roomy and opulent. Art-Deco touches complement the superbly appointed hotel, complete with St. Helena marble baths and plenty of rich fabrics, parquet, and leather. Luxury amenities include a solarium, spa, gym, sauna, and more restaurants and bars than needed. The Mandarin is conveniently located in the heart of the cultural, business, and shopping districts.

Hotel des Bergues
Reminiscent of the Renaissance era, this grand luxury hotel is legendary for incomparable hospitality and decadent luxury-a sea of marble and lush fabrics confirms that in a glance. Its sumptuous Royal Suite features private terraces, a full dining room, and bullet-proof windows (just in case you're that important.)

Swissotel Metropole Geneve
This renovated and modernized building dates to 1850, has outstanding views of Lake Geneva, and ranks right up there with the city's top hotels. Situated between Rue du Rhone and Jardin Anglais, it offers easy access to the shopping and business districts. As for the palatial guestrooms, they feature luxurious bedding and marble baths with deep oversized tubs.

Sotheby's
Along with Christie's, Sotheby's is the world's most prestigious auction house. This Geneva location is Europe's most important center for traditional jewelry auctions, which take place each autumn. Art auctions occur in the spring.

Grand Theatre de Geneve
Designed after the Paris Opera, this landmark 1879 theater was rebuilt after a mid-20th century fire. Its original grandeur was faithfully replicated while, fortunately, more modern amenities were added to the auditorium. With a seating capacity of 1,500, the theater presents eight operas and two ballets during its September-through-July season. Recitals and chamber-music concerts are also presented.
