Barcelona had everything I was looking for - fascinating history, ancient and modern architecture, vibrant street life, great cafes and restaurants, and a beach! Can't miss the Gaudi Casas nor the spectacular Sagrada Familia Cathedral. We did a 4-hour guided bike tour, which allowed us to see much more of the city than if we'd been on foot or subway. It was also a great way to fight jet lag on the first day after flying from the US. The view of the city from Montjuic castle was amazing - taking the funicular and gondola up got us there just before sunset. Loved the energy and fresh, tasty food and drink at the Boqueria market. Wish we had more time, there was so much we didn't get to see and do!
