Simply put, Stevens Pass has some of the best powder in the Pacific Northwest. A 450-inch annual snowfall alone makes that claim more than mere conjecture, but factor in a 78-mile proximity to Seattle and its centralized position on the crest of the Cascade Range between Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie and Wenatchee national forests, and you’ve got an alpine realm that can compete with some of North America’s banner resorts.

The resort’s terrain ranges from experts-only steep-and-technical runs with punishing turns to bowl boarding to smooth, wide-open cruisers. In total, the resort offers 1,800 vertical feet on three sides of two different mountains accessible via 10 lifts. Adventurous skiers gravitate toward Mill Valley, served by the Southern Cross Chair, and the chutes off the 7th Heaven Chair, while the less experienced can chill in the newly expanded beginners’ area.

Snowboarders will also feel at home. Stevens Pass is the only Washington resort with three halfpipes—one for beginners, one for intermediates, and a massive playground for experts, as well as terrain parks for intermediate and advanced ‘boarders.

If you grow weary of vertical temptations, Stevens Pass’ Nordic Center provides access to more than 17 miles of trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and skate skiing. Kids can take advantage of the Kids Club and Adventure Club, while adults can escape to a variety of apres-ski options. A choice of on-site lodging and nearby cabins, bed-and-breakfasts, and area restaurants add convenience and variety.
