Overview by Mitch Kaplan
Gore is considered Whiteface's "sister" because they're both operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), but that's about as far as the relationship goes. Gore's trail system bespeaks times gone bytree-lined, they present twists and turns in a meandering texture. Gore does well by families (their day care center is one of the East's longest operating), and its ability to draw water from the Hudson River for snowmaking promises improved and more consistent conditions. Lines for the liftsthe gondola in particularcan be long; but the views revealed during the ride up are worth the ticket price alone.
In 2011, Gore opened a connector with North Creek Ski Bowl via the Hudson Chair.
For the 2012-13 season, a few popular apres-ski spots received upgrades: The Tannery Pub & Restaurant received a newly renovated kitchen, seating, and menus, and the Gore Mountain Sundeck was resurfaced and outfitted with radiant heat.
