The majority of St. Lucia's accommodations are found in the island's northern quarter, where white-sand beaches wind around Rodney Bay. Here at The Beach Club, a restaurant at The Landings resort, the sunset vista includes a backdrop of Pigeon Point, crowned by a fort dating to 1778.

By day, Anse la Raye is a sleepy fishing village, typical of many such settlements in the Caribbean. But on Friday nights, Anse la Raye's fish fry draws an appreciative crowd from across St. Lucia for a meal of the freshest fish and crustaceans, served at tables parked in the sand.

The deep gorges slicing down the volcanic peaks of St. Lucia create myriad waterfalls. Toraille Falls tumbles from the slopes of Mount Gimie, the island's highest point, and is easily accessed from the road to the Fond St. Jacques rainforest.

The sand at Anse Chastanet may be silvery grey, but immediately offshore lies one of St. Lucia's finest dive and snorkeling reefs. The beach is also home to the restaurant Trou au Diable, and on Tuesday evenings the sand glimmers with tiki torches.
