Because of its origins, the resort doesn't feel like a contrived, cookie-cutter affair. In fact, the air of intimacy and Old World charm is palpable. Stone pathways wind through native desert landscaping, past trellises overflowing with fuschia, cacti, and citrus groves, under adobe archways, and through courtyards with fountains. All these nooks and crannies create plenty of privacy. Casitas, guestrooms, and villas are scattered throughout the lush property. Rooms are individually designed, though all have a Spanish-Mediterranean flair; antiques and artwork give each a distinct personality. Casitas are comfy and cozy and villas are spacious and sumptuous; many have their own fireplaces and private courtyards.
Alvadora, the resort's spa, earns deserved raves for attention and atmosphere. Intimate, inviting, and unpretentious, the spa begins rejuvenating your spirit as soon as you walk through the doors. Choose between citrus scrubs, an orange-blossom body buff (a specialty), facials, mineral baths, herbal baths, and a dozen different kinds of relaxing massage. Guests who relax by doing can tee off at Sunridge Canyon, Ocotillo, Troon North, and other world-class golf courses in Scottsdale; or contact Nancy Shina, Royal Palms Director of Shopping, to arrange some retail therapy.(-) Close
