No matter the season, there's plenty to do here. Beyond the farm, there's hiking and swimming at nearby Yellowstone Lake and Cadiz Springs state parks and cycling on the Cheese County and Sugar River trails. Sunrise and sunset hot-air balloon rides can be arranged, and there are plenty of antiques to be hunted in the surrounding towns. Back on the farm, if guests are inspired by the shady willows and vibrant wildflowers, the industrious bluebirds and great-horned owls, they can express it with borrowed paints and sketchpads. Depending on the weather, they can pick apples, toast s'mores around a campfire, play chess on a life-sized board, or cross-country ski out of the inn's backdoor and into the nearby woodlands.

Year-round, visitors are encouraged to "nibble their way" through tours of the B&B's abundant organic fruit, vegetable, and herb gardens plus its solar-heated straw-bale greenhouse (where even papayas grow). Combined, the gardens and greenhouse provide 70 percent of the inn's annual food needs. And this organic abundance is just the tip of the eco-efforts being made by inn owners Lisa Kivirist and John Ivanko. Electricity generated by a wind turbine and solar panels powers the B&B, the farm, and an electric car. These and other initiatives have made Inn Serendipity a rare "carbon negative" business. You might say it's a small place making a big statement.
