The Rendez-vous takes the island-wide eco ethic seriously. All of its buildings are powered with solar panels. Showers are also heated by solar energy, and most cottages have low-flush toilets connected to non-electrical composting units which produce odorless, pathogen-free compost. Rainwater is collected off the roofs and a combination of gravity and solar power feeds water to the cottages and restaurant.

Hiking, snorkeling, and diving are the main events on the "Unspoiled Queen," as Saba is known. Abundant and well-marked trails make it possible to explore the whole of the five-square-mile island on foot. The extensive protected marine park that rings the island boasts busy schools of tropical fish, rays, sharks, and turtles. Divers are also drawn to undersea networks of lava tunnels, hot springs, pinnacles, and coral.
