Whether it's fresh snow or long summer evenings outside, there's plenty to do on the 6,000-acre ranch and beyond. Explore on horseback or by horse-drawn wagon (complete with a BBQ cookout), or hike in nearby Arapaho National Forest, the Indian Peaks Wilderness, and Rocky Mountain National Park. In the warmer months, mountain-bike, hike, and fly-fish on property, plus organize guided rafting and kayaking trips on nearby rivers; when the flakes fly during winter, set out on a snowshoe or cross-country ski tour on over 65 miles of groomed ranch trails.

Guests can return to the ranch knowing that they're doing their best to preserve all that spectacular scenery. Devil's Thumb has committed to build on just 80 of its 6,000 acres, leaving the rest for non-human residents. All buildings are heated entirely by geothermal energy. Much of its flooring is reclaimed spruce or fir and the interior trim is beetle-killed lodgepole pine. A custom-designed sand filtration system treats all wastewater.
