In Wisconsin Dells, the self-styled "water-park capital of the world," resorts and hotels tend to cater almost exclusively to kids. Chula Vista is one notable exception, with family-friendly fun, yes, but also more diverse dining options, upscale amenities, and activities like golf and spa services to give your stay some grownup appeal.

Choose from standard king (with pullout sofa) or double queen rooms, junior suites that sleep up to six, or family suites with room for up to eight.

Editor Tips & Helpful Hints
  • The slides and chutes in the outdoor pool area are better for older, taller kids; younger swimmers will find more to do in Chula's Lost Rios Indoor Waterpark.
  • Don't forget to check around the back of the main hotel, where you'll find a well-situated wave pool above the wooded banks of the Wisconsin River. This is a peaceful spot at which to park yourselves in the late afternoon, as the day's shadows lengthen.
  • Make sure your room isn't close to the main elevators. It's quite noisy, with groups coming and going till around 9 p.m., when the water park closes, which might disturb younger sleepers.
Perched on a narrow bend of the Wisconsin River in the upper portion of Wisconsin Dells, this big resort feels like a secluded, wooded retreat compared to the hubbub in the main Dells area. The 620-room property boasts 200,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor water parks that include 27 looping waterslides, a lazy river, and a wave pool. The indoor slides and play areas are better suited to younger kids, while the outdoor area boasts more extreme rides that tweens and teenagers will love.
