The resort opened in 1984 (which makes it ancient in resort years), but it underwent $20 million in renovations in 2007. The result: 30 new oceanfront rooms and suites, including 14 suites with private plunge pools, and 236 newly refurbished guest rooms and suites. All have private balconies and little amenities like CD players, satellite TV, safety deposit boxes, hair dryers, and coffeemakers.

The renovation also boosted the resort's total number of restaurants to five, which specialize in everything from Italian fine dining to casual Caribbean fare to sushi and teppanyaki. Also added in the upgrade were two freshwater pools—one with a swim-up bar and misting area—which now complement the main pool.
