After selecting animals to photograph, Anup and Manoj settle into an area and let the animals become accustomed to their presence. “After a while, they relax and get on with doing what comes naturally to them,” says Anup. “That’s when the best pictures happen.” And that’s how they got this shot of a young leopard that had stowed her kill, a young Thomson’s gazelle, in the tree. The cat was keeping her prize out of reach of a gang of scavenging hyenas that are unable to climb trees.
