In Kenya’s Masai Mara, Allinder found a group of hippos avoiding the oppressive African sun in a pond covered with water lettuce. Hippos can be extremely elusive, coming up only to breathe and rarely showing more than eyes and ears before sinking back below. Hoping for something more, Allinder waited patiently until this hippo surfaced with an impressive yawn.
