During a helicopter journey over top of Auyantepui Mountain, Schafer dealt with the normal variables of light and composition, but found himself also challenged by the vibration of the engine, the wind through the open door, and the whirling rotor. This image of the world’s tallest waterfall (3,212 feet) plunging to the dense jungle below is testament to Schafer’s perseverance to get that perfect shot and to the extraordinary grandeur of nature.
