What to do in Percha Dam State Park

Percha Dam State Park may well be the greatest hidden treasure of the New Mexico Sate Park system. Virtually unknown, although word is getting out, it is a quiet and serene getaway under the shade of tall trees. The park is covered with a blanket of grass protected by cottonwood, salt cedar and Russian olive trees. The park provides excellent fishing and bird watching along the river. At an elevation of 4,100 feet, this park covers 80 acres of land and 11,500 acres of lake.

Park amenities include a group shelter, restrooms, showers, and a playground. Camping facilities include 29 developed sites, many with electric hookup.

Recreation

Percha Dam State Park is located in the south western region of the state. It is south of Truth or Consequences on I-25.

Annual precipitation is 9.81 inches. Summer temperatures range from lows around 60 to highs around 95. Winter temps range from lows of 24 degrees to highs around 60.
