What to do in Hershey

According to industry reports, Hersheypark ranked among the top 20 most-visited theme parks in the United States in 2011, welcoming almost three million people. But while most visitors flock here for thrills and spills on 12 roller coasters and more than 20 kids’ rides, Hershey is the sum of many parts. In a story started more than 100 years ago, the chocolate-empire founder, Milton Hershey, built a model town for his factory staff. Not all of today’s visitors would want to live in a sepia-toned version of The Truman Show, sure, but there’s no escaping the fact that this is the life for a few days at least. Choose from golf, sumptuous spa treatments, historic lodging, and, yes, just a little bit of that Hershey’s chocolate magic (disclaimer: consume carefully before getting on Hersheypark’s SkyRush coaster, a 200-foot-tall, 75-mph behemoth).
