Phelps Creek #1511
Heavily used trail. Provides access to the Spider Meadows area. Good opportunities for viewing wildflowers.
*Closed to bicycles at Wilderness boundary 2.6 miles from trailhead.
**Stock prohibited on spur trail leading into Upper Phelps Basin.
**Camping with stock at Spider Meadows permitted only at designated campsites west of Phelps Creek.

Carne Mountain #1508
Moderate to steep grades through open forests leading to a small mountain basin. Good opportunities for viewing wildflowers. *Closed to bicycles at Wilderness boundary 3.5 miles from trailhead.

Leroy High Route #1512
Seldom maintained. Unsigned old sheep drive. Steep and difficult to find in some places. *Not recommended for stock.

Phelps Ridge Route #1514
Not maintained. Unsigned old sheep drive. Steep and difficult to find in some places. *Not recommended for stock.

Pacific Crest Trail - North

Pacific Crest #2000
High Cascade route of moderate grades. This section of the P.C.T. between Saddle Gap and White Pass is all within Wilderness.
*Stock prohibited at Lake Sally Ann except for through traffic.
Campfires not permitted at Lake Sally Ann or at White Pass.
NOTE: Camping at White Pass limited to area west of and just below the actual pass. Water can be somewhat scarce along the Pacific Crest Trail in late summer/fall.

Pacific Crest Trail - South

Pacific Crest #2000
High Cascade route of moderate grades. This section of the P.C.T. on the Lake Wenatchee Ranger District is all within Wilderness except for the first 1.5 miles north of Stevens Pass.
*Overnight camping with stock is not recommended at Lake Janus or Lake Valhalla because of a lack of established campsites outside of lakeshore areas and lack of forage. A designated stock hitching area for day use is provided at Lake Valhalla. All lakes have a 200-foot zone from the shoreline where grazing, tethering, and camping with pack and saddle animals are prohibited. Campfires are prohibited at Lake Valhalla.
NOTE: Both Lakes Janus and Valhalla are heavily used areas. Please stay off revegetated areas at these lakes.

Smithbrook #1590
Heavily used trail. Accesses the Pacific Crest Trail. Good opportunities for berry picking. Limited roadside parking at trailhead. Trailhead not recommended for stock trucks or stock trailers.

Heather Lake Area

Top Lake #1506
Accesses the Pacific Crest Trail. Moderate to steep trail grades except for the last 1/4 mile of trail, which is a very steep eroded descent to Top Lake.
*Horse camp located 400 feet west of lake. Do not camp with stock at lakeside campsites.

Heather Lake #1526
Heavily used trail. Popular with day hikers. Moderate to steep trail grades leading to Heather Lake. Possible hazardous creek crossing located 1 mile from trailhead. Campfires are prohibited at Heather Lake and Glasses Lake.

Lake Minotaur #1517
Very steep hiker route to Lake Minotaur. Campfires are prohibited at Lake Minotaur and Lake Theseus due to a lack of firewood. Campers at Lake Minotaur have damaged trees and snags in their zealous quest for firewood.

Buck Creek Area

Chiwawa River #1550
Follows old mining road to Red Mountain. Accesses a spur trail leading to Chiwawa Basin.

Buck Creek #1513
Heavily used trail. Accesses the Buck Pass area. Good opportunities for viewing wildflowers.
*Camping with horses at Buck Pass permitted only in designated horse camp.

Massie Lake

High Route #1504
Not maintained. Very steep, unsigned old sheep drive. Difficult to find in some places.
*Not recommended for stock.

High Pass #1562.2
Moderate grade to the High Pass area. There is no developed trail beyond High Pass. Trail accesses high alpine country.
*Stock prohibited 2.5 miles beyond junction with Buck Creek Trail.

The trailhead at Trinity, which provides access to these trails, borders private land. Trinity, now privately owned, was once a mining community. Please respect private property and stay on the trail in this area.

Napeequa River Area

Little Giant #1518
Steep trail that follows portions of an old sheep driveway. Trail tread is very eroded and narrow on Napeequa River side of Little Giant Pass.
*Trail is hazardous and not recommended for stock.
NOTE: There are no bridges across the Chiwawa River and the Napeequa River. Crossing may be hazardous during high water.

Boulder Creek #1562
Moderate to steep trail grades up and over Boulder Pass. The section of this trail in the Napeequa Valley bottom is not maintained and is quite brushy and difficult to find in places.
*Not recommended for horses or pack stock on the Napeequa River side of Boulder Pass because of eroded and narrow trail tread.
NOTE: There is no bridge across the Napeequa River. Crossing can be hazardous in high water.

Little Wenatchee Area

Little Wenatchee #1525
Access to the Pacific Crest Trail. Brushy valley route then a steep, eroded, rocky ascent to the Meander Meadows area.

Poe Mountain #1520
Steep, dry trail to high ridgetop and old lookout site. Good opportunities for berry picking and wildflower viewing.

Little Wenatchee Ridge #1543
Scenic ridge trail. Seldom maintained. *Closed to horses and pack stock 1/4 mile west of Irving Pass.

Irving Pass #1545
Access to the Little Wenatchee Ridge and Poe Mountain areas. *Not recommended for stock beyond Irving Pass.

Bryant Peak Route # 1544
Old sheep drive. Difficult to find or no longer existent in places. Not maintained and unsigned. Very dry ridge route. *Not recommended for stock.

Cady Creek #1501
Shortest access route to the Pacific Crest Trail from the Little Wenatchee Trailhead. Valley bottom trail is brushy and mucky in places. Good opportunities for berry picking.

Cady Ridge #1532
Very steep and dry trail. Access to the Pacific Crest Trail. *Not recommended for stock.

White River Area

Indian Creek #1502
Scenic valley trail located entirely within Wilderness. Access to the Pacific Crest Trail. Some brushy, boggy areas. Abundant water. Good opportunities for viewing wildflowers.

Mt. David #1521
Scenic Wilderness route to high ridgeline country. Steep trail with little water. Old lookout site located at summit. Good opportunities for berry picking and wildflower viewing.
*Not recommended for stock.

White River #1507
Scenic valley trail located entirely within Wilderness. Access to the Pacific Crest Trail. Very brushy in some areas. Hazardous ford crossing of river at 11-mile point during high water.

Panther Creek #1522
Accesses remote Wilderness valleys. Not maintained beyond Mt. David Trail junction. Very brushy area near Ibex Creek.

Lake Wenatchee Area

Raging Creek #1541
Sections of this trail follow an old Indian route to berry-picking areas near Crook Mtn. Trail is difficult to follow and not maintained beyond Raging Creek crossing.

Big Meadow Creek #1537
Accesses Wilderness. FISHING PROHIBITED IN TWIN LAKES AND TRIBUTARIES. An alternative route to Twin Lakes. This trail is located 2 miles beyond a locked gate on Rd. #6300. Users must hike 2 miles on the road to reach this 1/2-mile trail that accesses Upper Twin lake.

Twin Lakes #1503
Accesses Wilderness. Moderate trail grades to Twin Lakes. FISHING PROHIBITED IN TWIN LAKES AND TRIBUTARIES.

Dirty Face #1500
Steep, dry trail. Great views of Lake Wenatchee and surrounding area from old lookout site. Good opportunities for viewing wildflowers.

Hidden Lake #1510
Short hike to nice little lake. Good opportunities for nature study with small children. Trailhead located at Glacier View Campground.

South Shore #1510.1
Short trail along the south shore of Lake Wenatchee from Glacier View Campground to Camp Zanika Lake.

Rock Creek Area

Rock Creek #1509
Access to valley bottom meadows and the Carne Mountain Trail. *Closed to bicycles at Wilderness boundary 4.5 miles from trailhead.

Estes Butte #1527
Trail is steep with no water. Accesses Old Gib Trail and the old Estes Butte lookout site. To be reconstructed in 1995 in association with the Chiwawa Horse Camp trail system.

Old Gib #1528
Seldom maintained. Scenic old trail along ridge. Water is scarce.
*Not recommended for horses.

Basalt Pass #1530
Access to high ridge country. Water is scarce. Steep trail.

Basalt Ridge #1515
Scenic ridgeline trail. Water scarce. Steep grades for first 2 miles from trailhead. To be reconstructed in 1994 in association with the Chiwawa Horse Camp trail system.

Rock Creek Tie #1538
Extremely steep, not maintained, and unsigned route between Basalt Ridge and Rock Creek. To be reconstructed in 1994 in association with the Chiwawa Horse Camp trail system.

Schaefer Lake #1519
Moderate to steep grades to Schaefer Lake. There is no bridge across the Chiwawa River. Logjam crossing may be hazardous. *Not recommended for stock.

Minnow Creek #1539
Tie trail to Basalt Ridge from Chikamin Rd.

Nason Ridge Area

Snowy Creek #1531
Moderate grade to basin at base of Rock Mountain, then steep grades beyond to old Rock Mtn. lookout site. Accesses Nason Ridge Trail.

Rock Mountain #1587
Very steep and dry but scenic trail. Good opportunities for viewing wildflowers. *Not recommended for stock.

Merritt #1588
Access to Nason Ridge. Moderate trail grades. Please do not cut switchbacks on this or any other trail.

Nason Ridge #1583
Scenic trail along length of ridge. Water is scarce. Trail crosses and follows for 1/2 mile an old logging road at 3 miles from the Kahler Glen Trailhead.
*Not recommended for horses between Rock Mtn. and Royal Basin.
*Motorcycles not permitted west of Alpine Lookout (9-mile point).

Round Mountain #1529
Main access to Nason Ridge Trail and Alpine Lookout. Moderate to steep trail grades. Water is scarce.

Scottish Lakes Area

Lake Ethel #1585
Steep, dry trail that crosses several logging roads located on private lands. These roads are closed to passenger vehicles. Campfires not permitted at Lake Ethel. Hikers must carry a permit for the Alpine Lakes Wilderness (available at the trailhead). Logging activity has occurred and may continue to occur on private lands in the Coulter Creek area.

Upper Roaring Creek #1584
Scenic ridgeline trail between Lake Julius and Lake Ethel. Access to McCue Ridge and Chiwaukum Lake Trails. Alpine Lakes Wilderness permit required (available at trailheads). Campfires prohibited in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness at all destinations above 5,000 feet east of the Cascade Mountain crest. This includes Lake Julius, Lake Ethel, Lake Donald, and Loch Eileen.

Loch Eileen #1584.1
Short spur trail of moderate grade leading to Loch Eileen from Lake Julius. Campfires prohibited at Lake Julius, Lake Ethel, Lake Donald, and Loch Eileen. Alpine Lakes Wilderness permit required (available at trailheads).

White Pine Area

Lanham Lake #1589
Easy day hike. Interesting phenomenon occurred in the fall of 1987 when the lake drained dry through a sinkhole. The lake has since refilled. Mid-section of trail is an old road. Trail crosses under powerline.

White Pine Creek #1582
Access to Alpine Lakes Wilderness and Wildhorse Trail. Somewhat brushy but scenic river bottom trail. Alpine Lakes Wilderness permit required (available able at trailhead). Campfires prohibited in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness at all destinations above 5,000 feet east of the Cascade Mountain divide. This includes Doelle Lakes Grace Lakes and Frosty Pass.

Wildhorse Creek #1592
Moderate to steep grades leading to open high country that was severely burned near the turn of the century. Good opportunities for berry picking and wildflower viewing. Alpine Lakes Wilderness permit required (available at trailhead). Campfires prohibited in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness at all destinations above 5,000 feet east of the Cascade Mountain divide. This includes Doelle Lakes, Grace Lakes, and Frosty Pass.

Grace Lake Route #1578
Seldom maintained and unsigned route. *Stock prohibited 1/2 mile beyond Wildhorse Trail junction. Campfires prohibited at Grace Lakes. Alpine Lakes Wilderness permit required (available at trailhead).
