These sites are positioned alongside a pretty stream in a beautiful valley, with great views of the Elk Mountains. Although it's less than an hour from Gunnison, the camp feels remote and serene, as if you're in the middle of the wilderness. Fishing is possible in Cement Creek, although prospects are reported to be slim. Nearby is a trail that heads north into the surrounding national forest, where you'll cross numerous streams with better fishing potential. Continue a mile up Forest Service Road 470 and you'll come to Cement Creek Ranch, which offers a single rustic cabin and a private hot spring pool. (There is a catch: you have to rent the cabin to get access to the springs.)

Location: North of Almont in Gunnison National Forest.

Directions: From Gunnison, drive twenty-one miles north on Highway 135, then turn right on Forest Service Road 740 and continue four miles east to the campground.

Campsites, facilities: There are thirteen sites for tents or RVs up to twenty-eight feet long. Drinking water, picnic tables, fire grills, and vault toilets are provided. Leashed pets are permitted. The elevation is 9,000 feet.

Reservations: Reservations are not accepted, and there is a nightly fee for sites. The campgrounds are open from June to September.
