- Charter a sailboat to explore this sprawling archipelago of nearly 400 tiny, mostly deserted islands in one of the least developed areas of the Caribbean. San Blas Sailing offers island-hopping itineraries lasting 4 to 21 days.
- Experience the thriving culture of the native islanders, the Kuna. The San Blas Islands and surrounding waters are part of an autonomous region called Comarca Kuna Yala, where coconuts are sometimes used as currency. The Kuna still fish in traditional hand-carved canoes, and some operate modest guesthouses.
- Hire a Kuna guide for a tour of the region. You'll visit native burial sites, mainland jungles at the foot of the San Blas mountains, and island communities like Ustupa, where visitors can shop for gold jewelry and brightly colored clothing called molas.
