What to do in Ozark Folk Center State Park

Sample the rich heritage of Ozark life through music, crafts and dance in the unique mountain setting of the Ozark Folk Center.

During the spring, summer and autumn (contact the park for exact dates and times), artisans demonstrate over 20 homestead skills and crafts from. The comfortable, climate-controlled auditorium hosts live entertainment at 7:30 p.m., six nights a week with Sunday Gospel Concerts, during the season. Special musical performances and craft fairs celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. Music is played as it was before 1940- acoustic instruments only.

The Homespun Gift Shop offers handmade items including toys, rocking chairs, pottery, shuck dolls, quilts, white oak baskets, peach, and apple butter. Comfortable lodging, delicious meals in the scenic, full-service Iron Skillet Restaurant and Smokehouse Sandwich Buffet Restaurant, free tram service, and the Heritage Herb Gardens add to your enjoyment. The Center offers conference and meeting facilities for groups up to 1,000 and specializes in business retreats and family reunions.

Recreation
Tours, live entertainment, festivals, special music shows, contests, workshops, and craft exhibitions are held throughout the year.

Location
The Ozark Folk Center State Park is located in the Ozark Mountains Region of northern Arkansas. The park is found one mile north of Mountain View on Spur 382 off Highways 5, 9 and 14.

Climate
Arkansas has a temperate climate with the coldest temperatures near freezing during December, January and February. Daytime highs for these months usually reach 55 degrees F. Spring and fall temperatures are very mild with lows dipping to 44 degrees F and highs reaching 70 degrees F. July and August are the hottest months of the year with average temperatures reaching 90 degrees F. June and September average temperatures usually reach into the mid-eighties. Spring and winter months are the wettest of the year.
