What to do in Ogden Mills and Ruth Livingston Mills State Park

Mills-Norrie State Park is actually two connecting state parks – Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park and Ogden & Ruth Livingston Mills State Park. The 988-acre parcel is bounded on the west by the Hudson River. This very scenic park offers river view multi-use trails, overnight facilities, Dinsmore Golf Course (two 9-hole courses), the fabulous Mills Mansion State Historic Site and more. The park is open year-round.

Mills-Norrie State Park is actually two connecting state parks – Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park and Ogden & Ruth Livingston Mills State Park. The 988-acre parcel is bounded on the west by the Hudson River. The Norrie Marina provides boating, fishing and picnicking on the bluffs overlooking the Hudson River. A campground with tent sites, RV sites and adjacent rental cabins is offered. Included at the parks is the country's second oldest golf course, Dinsmore Golf Course (two 9-hole courses). These grounds are open for cross-country skiers in winter. A bridle path, scenic hiking, biking and snowmobiling trails are available, as well as a sledding hill on the lawn of the Mills Mansion State Historic Site.

Recreation
This large parcel of public land offers a State Historic Site for touring, the Dinsmore Golf Course, cabins, tent sites, RV sites, hiking trails, bike path, bridle path, fishing opportunities, picnic area, recreation programs, restaurant, cross-country skiing and sledding.

Dinsmore Golf Course is a very scenic 18-hole course (two 9's) offering panoramic views of the Hudson River and majestic Catskill Mountains. It is the second oldest golf course in the country. Yardage is 5,719, par 70. A clubhouse, junior golf program, lounge, practice green, locker rooms, pro shop, restaurant, club rental ($10), power carts ($24 for 18 holes), and showers are offered. The course charges a fee of $18 weekdays and $22 weekends for a round of 18 holes. The fee for 9 holes is $10 weekdays and $12 weekends.

Location
This state park is located 5 miles north of Hyde Park along SR 9. Travel the NYS Thruway (I-87), take the Kingston Exit, Route 199 east to Route 9G south, Route 9 south through Rhinebeck to Staatsburg.

This area has a varied climate with average January temperatures ranging from above 22 degrees down to 18 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt.
