Staying at Corolla Beach for a few days this summer, flying into to Norfolk VA...

Staying at Corolla Beach for a few days this summer, flying into to Norfolk VA Airport.... wondering if anyone can tell me the most affordable way to get myself, wife & 2 little ones shuttled from the airport and thru the 5-10 miles of AWD beach access. Best I've seen runs about $650 for arrival and departure.....way more than I figured it'd be but that AWD beach is a game changer! Thanks, Lee in Indy

We are renting an ocean front house about 9 miles up the 4x4 beach. Was wondering if it is worth bringing the mountain bikes down with us? Are the sand roads behind the houses packed enough to ride on or are they very soft and no good for riding?
