Princeton Tec Extreme Bike Light ($70):
Attention all dwellers of the night and would-be nocturnal spinmeisters: The Princeton Tec Yukon Extreme Bike Light is a biking headlamp of near solar magnitude, using a focusable beam that casts a concentrated spotlight on the knotty road ahead. What really puts the "X" in the Extreme, though, is its dual-filament Xenon bulb, offering higher or lower light output depending on riding conditions. Say you don't need blinding light, however. The unit also houses three bright, long-burn LEDs that similarly offer two modes of output to fine-tune the illuminated working distance—but with much less power draw. The Yukon can be mounted on your handlebars or helmet, and with its 54-inch power cord, the separate fully waterproof battery pack can be stashed inside a jacket, a backpack, or close to the body to keep the eight-AA-battery juice box warm for optimum battery life.
