What to do in Nescopeck State Park

Nescopeck is currently under development. Future plans include an emphasis on environmental education that will focus on the natural resources of the park. Nescopeck has forested areas, a variety of wetlands, a small lake and a high quality trout stream.

At the present time, this park is under the management of Hickory Run State Park.

The upper portion of Nescopeck Creek in the park has been designated by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission as a delayed harvest area. Current users of the park enjoy hiking, bird-watching, cross-country skiing, fishing and hunting.

Location
Nescopeck State Park is located in Luzerne County on the east side of the state below Wilkes-Barre. Travel Interstate 81 south then head east on Interstate 80 a mile or so to Exit 39. Head north on SR 309.

Climate
Pennsylvania generally has a moist climate with cold winters and warm summers. The Nescopeck State Park area has cold winter months with temperatures averaging around 24 to 28 degrees Fahrenheit (-4 to -2 degrees Celsius). The area's average summer temperatures range around 72 to 74 degrees Fahrenheit (22 to 23 Celsius).
