The OC is wonderfully tacky. This seaside town is perfect for college-age kids looking to cut loose after midterms, or 20-somethings all going in on a house rental for Memorial weekend. The beaches are oddly nice. I figured there would be a lot of trash and filthy given its reputation. The water is great as well. There are plenty of little shops and restaurants to eat at, though there isn't much in the gourmet category. But if you're looking for beer buckets or a Screaming Mama Margarita, you're in the right place. There are several late-night hotspots though in the summer (especially during holiday weekends) lines can go down the block. Bring your sunscreen and Tylenol!
