Letchworth State Park lies along the Genesee River which roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between sheer cliffs towering upward of 600 feet. Folks wishing to get outdoors in winter will find lots to do at Letchworth including cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, snow tubing and even horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Letchworth State Park is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern United States. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs–as high as 600 feet in some places–surrounded by lush forests. The historic, completely restored Glen Iris Inn offers overnight accommodations and is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Campers can take advantage of tent and trailer campsites or winterized cabins. Group camping facilities are available as well. Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are also available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Two pools are open for swimming. Letchworth offers nature, history and performing arts programs, guided walks and tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking and hot air ballooning. Winter activities include ice skating, snow tubing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

The campground opens in mid-May and closes in mid-October.

Letchworth State Park is located along the Genesee River approximately 35 miles south of Rochester. It is easily accessible off Interstate 390, Exit 7.

The Letchworth State Park area experiences average January temperatures above 22 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius).
