One of my favorite places to visit in Japan. A very laid-back town with fascinating history. You've got the site of the second atomic bomb, an interesting meld of Japanese and Chinese history, the legacy of the port as the sole trading colony for Dutch traders in the 18th century, and interesting sights like Glover Gardens. When in Nagasaki, you MUST try the champon noodles as well as Dutch Castella cake. The Nagasaki Kunchi Festival is one of Japan's most colorful celebrations; it's held each year in October.
