You have to book many months in advance if you want a room at this lovely little resort, located at the southern tip of Barbados. The reason is simple—the rooms and setting are gorgeous, the rooms here are one of the best deals on the island, and the British managers and their staff are as charming and attentive as they come. Peach and Quiet has just 22 rooms, housed in whitewashed buildings and set on a bluff overlooking the bright blue ocean—no wonder so many visitors compare it to Mykonos, in Greece. Rooms are also whitewashed, with clean linens and simple artful decor, a king size bed (or two doubles), and spotless bathrooms. There's no air-conditioning, but fans and constant sea breezes help keep the rooms cool. There's a beach about five minutes away by foot, though the surf can be heavy, in fact, it's popular with kiteboarders and windsurfers. Buses pass nearby, but most guests find a rental car very handy, whether for seeking out beaches, going shopping, or sampling the restaurants and nightlife. Meals at Peach & Quiet are delicious and reasonably-priced. Finally, the owners are avid walkers and offer a Walking Week package that consists of a different guided walk every day, exploring the best of Barbados' rich and varied territory.
