  • While the décor at Oliver Ridgeway's Anasazi Restaurant echoes the hotel's Pueblo Revival style, the cuisine is global in scope. The restaurant combines Asian, Southwestern, and French styles of cooking with seasonal produce—with winning results. You'll be dreaming of those ancho-dusted diver scallops with bean purée and a piquant pecan lime glaze long after departing. Mind you, no dish is too humble to overlook here. The buffalo burger with bacon and guacamole keeps guests coming back night after night. Whether dining on the streetside patio, within the candlelit dining room (at once modern and ancient feeling), at the small bar, or within the private wine cellar, the ambience and food duke it out for top-dog status. (I say they're well matched.)
  • The City Different," as Santa Fe is nicknamed because of its blend of cultures, can rightly be claimed an amenity of the hotel. Situated at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, she offers outdoor adventures of every stripe, including predawn mountain-bike tours to watch the sunrise. World-class artisans showcase their talents in galleries along Canyon Road and in a dozen museums. Don't miss letting the hotel arrange a private walking tour of the four-centuries-old plaza—where you'll find the oldest continuously used government building in the U.S., the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, and the Loretto Chapel.

Service sets this place apart, but art aficionados whisper with envy about Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi, an eco-chic hideaway on Santa Fe's Main Plaza. The inn's designers have combined prehistoric mud-and-stone pueblo architecture with splashes of modern art, low-slung vigas beams, latilla-covered ceilings, and a wealth of Anasazi stonework and pottery. Although it might, at first glance, appear humble and simple, the hotel is worthy of a Frida and Diego-style getaway.

Anasazi means "ancient ones," and the hotel, fittingly, was blessed by a medicine man, Franciscan priest, and local artists. You'll be cradled by its earth-inspired designs from the get-go. Massive hand-carved doors lead into a piñon-scented lobby with a kiva fireplace, where you can read about Navajo history. With locally-sourced sandstone for its walls, the interior is a tableau of earth tones; a wall of water trickles down stonework lit from above with skylights. An oversized living room provides
