• This campground, run by the national park service, is located on mile 193.1 of the Natchez Trace Parkway. The site is in hilly terrain. And the campsites are well spread apart.
• Take the Little Mountain Trail, which heads from the campground the top of Little Mountain, which is one of the highest points in the state of Mississippi. Enjoy the overlook here.
• A gas station and camp store is located at the entrance to the campground, which you can use as a jumping off point for scenic drives both north and south on the parkway.

• Camping here is free and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. It's usually pretty quiet, although can get busier over the spring and fall shoulder seasons as RV-bound snowbirds flock to and from the warmer South.

Description: 

The campground is named for Thomas Jefferson Busby, the U.S. Congressman from Mississippi, who introduced a bill that resulted in the 1934 act authorizing a survey of the Old Natchez Trace. On May 18, 1938, the Natchez Trace Parkway was authorized as a unit of the National Park System. Little Mountain is one of Mississippi's highest points on the parkway, 603 feet. The area includes the 18-site campground, picnic tables, exhibit shelter and overlook atop Little Mountain, phone, and trails. A concessionaire operates the service station and camp store.
