Parks and Outdoors Expert Tips & Helpful Hints
  • The resort is open from June to mid-October.
Perched atop a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Keltic Lodge commands extraordinary views. This park landmark, which opened in 1940, features exceptional dining, a range of lodging options, a spa that uses Aveda products, nightly entertainment, and a host of on-site activities and amenities. Lodging is offered in the historic main lodge, in the more modern Inn at Keltic, and in two-bedroom and four-bedroom cottages. All of the rooms have cable TV with minimal channels, free wireless Internet, and a coffeemaker, while the cottages moreover have fireplaces and verandas. For breakfast, the Purple Thistle offers a superb buffet; for lunch and dinner, the Atlantic Restaurant offers casual dining under a cathedral post-and-beam ceiling, with a focus on local ingredients and Maritime seafood. Outside, there's a heated pool, tennis courts, lawn games, and rental bicycles. The national park's Highland Links, an 18-hole golf course, lies adjacent to the property; numerous hiking trails are nearby; and both ocean and freshwater beaches lie at lower elevations.
